Replace missing teeth permanently

Tooth loss can be problematic not only for the appearance of your smile but also for your dental and overall health. From our Thornlands and Labrador practice locations here at TFI Dentistry we can refer you to a trusted specialist in order to receive dental implants that can permanently correct tooth loss. Dental implants are largely considered to be the modern and permanent alternative to potentially uncomfortable removal dentures.

A dental implant is a post-like screw that is placed in your jawbone to act as an anchor for a dental crown, bridge or denture. The implant is made from a titanium alloy material that is biocompatible to your jawbone, thus it is extremely likely that the implant will bond to your bone. The implant will then act as an anchor for a prosthetic tooth or dental device, whilst also stimulating the jawbone. Most of our patients are suitable candidates to receive dental implants however an appropriate level of bone dentistry is required. Despite this, our patients who do not have a high enough level of bone density can also receive a bone graft which can enable them to receive dental implants.

Receiving dental implants

Initially we will require you to attend a detailed consultation with our dental professionals to identify if dental implants are a suitable restorative treatment for you. Once we have discussed a treatment plan and the associated costs with you we can then refer you to a specialist to complete the implant process. Your specialist will place the dental implant, ensuring that over time it fuses with the jawbone. Once the implant has bonded with the bone our dental professionals can then proceed to attach the necessary restoration.

Why should you restore missing teeth?

Tooth loss can be damaging to your dental health as well as your overall health, not to mention the affects it can have on the appearance of your smile or your self-confidence. Missing teeth can be damaging to your oral health as it can prompt the surrounding teeth to shift across to compensate for the gap. Multiple tooth loss can also damage the jawbone as your teeth provide stimulation to the bone which keeps it healthy. Tooth loss has also been associated with a number of debilitating health conditions, including cardiovascular disease.
